Restore Gloss Back To Your Paint

Overtime, your vehicles paint will look dull. Most of the time, it’s due to improper washing and drying over many years. This is especially true when you have a dark colored vehicle. The reason your paint looks less-shiny is because of all the micro-scratches in the paint.

There can be other extreme examples that the clear has gone to the point of no return and requires an actual respray. This usually happens when the vehicle is left out in the heat for a prolong amount of time.

Houston heat is no joke. Over a couple of years, based on the year of your vehicle, the sun can really eat through the clear coat. You would need to take it to a bodyshop for a complete respray.

There’s three main categories for getting your vehicle polished:

1) You want to give it some life: Perhaps you’ve decided to keep the vehicle for a little longer while and want to give it an overall uplift. This service is a great option for that.

This is also great if you’d like to get your car ready for a car show. This will be the last thing you can do to give your car an overall “pop” feel to it. If you really want to go all out with your paint, you should check out our 2-step paint correction service.

2) You want to prep it for sale: Want to add more value to your vehicle by getting the car looking great for potential buyers? This is an easy service to have done on your vehicle to take years off the paint and make it look newer.

3) You want to get your car off on the right foot: Did you just purchase a new-to-you vehicle? Many times, even with brand new vehicles that are rolling off the dealership with 100 miles, can have imperfections in the paintwork.

If you’d like to really start taking care of the paint from day one, getting it started with a polishing service can help “reset” the paint.

Houston’s Auto Detailing Specialists

Paint polishing is a very tedious process (see our full breakdown here). It requires several polishers, pads, compounds, polishes, towels, and lights to get the job done right. We don’t just pick up whatever tool and pad and go to town.

There’s a limited amount of clear coat on your paint. Once it’s “gone”, there’s turning back. The only other way to fix it is repainting the section. It should never get to that point.

Before we get started with our polishing, we’ll measure the paint to see how much clear coat we have to work with. This will give us a general path of how “aggressive” we can get with some areas.

There’s been plenty of times where we would like to remove some of the deeper scratches, but due to how much clear coat is left on the paint, the safer and more professional thing to do is not remove it.

Why? What if you have to polish that area again a year from now? You always want to have plenty of clear coat to work with for the future.

If you really want to give it the most shine and protection, you can even choose to go with our 9-year ceramic coating application.

Technique Matters

We’ve seen it too many times where a vehicle comes back to us from another detailer who “polished” the vehicle. When we inspect it, you see a trail of haze and buffer marks. Not only do we use premium tools and products, but the form and techniques we implement ensure a premium quality finish.

Every Vehicle is Unique

Can you tackle every car with the same polisher and pad combo? Sometimes you can, most of the time you can’t. All vehicles even if it’s the same make and model, can have its own unique challenges. That’s taken into consideration when working on your vehicle.

Paint Polishing FAQs

Do you have a shop?

Yes, it’s located just down the street from Willowbrook Mall. For most paint polishing services, we require you drop off the vehicle. We’re able to give you a much better final product if we’re in control of our work environment.

How long does this service take to complete?

It all depends on your size vehicle, condition, and type of clear coat we’re working with. Sometimes it might be large truck that is super easy to work with. Other times, there might be an average size sedan that’s very difficult to work with. Each vehicle will present its own unique challenges.

How long do the results last?

Well, getting your paint polished is just the first step. Once it rolls out our shop, it’s up to you (or have someone) to properly wash and dry the vehicle. That’ll be the biggest factor on how long the results last. If you take it through a $10 hand wash, within a few visits, you can be right to square one.

What’s the difference between a 2-step paint correction and the 1-step polish?

The 2-step correction aims to remove 90% or more of the swirls and scratches in your paint. The 1-step polish aims to remove 60 to 80% of the imperfections in your pant. Both are great services that will give you amazing results, it just depends on how much you want to get out of it.

For most people, a 1-step polish to make the paint pop is fine enough. If you really want to see how much your paint can shine, the 2-step correction is a better fit.
